Looking at two setups at my local Microcenter. Trying to decide between:

Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 + FX-8350

or

ASRock Z87 Extreme3 + i5-4590

Can anyone tell me which would be best? This would be going with my GTX 770.

Though, I'd get the I5 4690k and a Z97 if you can swing it. Something like this, ASRock Z97 PRO4 + Intel Core i5-4690K, with the walk in combo deal is $259.00 after the $10.00 MIR and before taxes.

Are you aware that you can get a much cheaper board with that 4590? No need for an extreme 3, or any Z87/97 board (you should definitely go Z97 now. 87 is last year's chipset).
The advantages of the Z boards are overclocking and SLI/CFX abilities, among some other less important stuff.

You can go as low as $69 (or even lower if you dare) with this little feller right here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157547&cm_re=H97-_-13-157-547-_-Product

You will get the same per-clock CPU and GPU performace as you would on a more expensive board. Just no bells and whistles.

Gotta be honest that 4690k + Z97 for 249 looks great!

ASRock Z97 Anniversary Edition LGA 1150 ATX Intel with 4690k is $254. With that I can even swing an SSD! So the last question is that board OK?

The Z97 Anniversary is a bit of a joke actually. The power delivery section is only 4 phase so its going to get really hot of you overclock that chip very far. Minimum ASRock board I'd look at is the Extreme 3.

Not to much of an OC'er to be honest.

just get the z97 pro4 and the i5, you can't go wrong with that, with a few exceptions.
