Hi Folks

Grabbed EarthDog's msi xpower ac, a 6GHz+ g3258 and waterblocked 780Ti matrix. Hoping to go after some 2d and 3d globals (in the older 3d's anyway). Still waiting for the chip to arrive (international always stinks) but would like thoughts on the best sticks to run.

Here's what look to be the likely candidates in the collection:
- Crucial Ballistix 1600 8-8-8-24 @ 1.65v, 2000 8-8-8-24 @ 1.64
- Corsair Dominator GT 2000 7-8-7-24 @ 1.65v, will run 2400 8-8-8-24 @ 1.92v
- Kingston Hyperx 2133 8-8-8-24 @ 1.65v <--- may be dead, have to re-test them
- Gskill Pi's 2300 8-11-8-28 @ 1.65v
- GSkill Tridentx 2400 9-11-11-31 @ 1.65v
- GSkill Tridentx 2666 11-13-13-35 @ 1.65v
- GSkill Tridentx 2933 12-14-14-35 @1.65v

Thinking best shot would be to go with the dominators and see if I can get the 8-8-8-24 as that should be much better than the 2400 tridentx. That said, should hopefully be able to hit 2933+ so maybe those 2933 tridentx? I am horrible at ram overclocking (still have lots to learn there...Woomack- have any great links or did you ever write up your process?). Have the needed kit to run the sticks under ss if that makes a good difference.

Guess another question is should I use different sticks for different benches? If so...any opinions?

Thoughts?

TIA as always :)

Anything on PSC or Samsung from these kits will give best results so G.Skill Pi or TridentX 2400 CL9 at 2400-2666 and tight timings. You have to check what board likes more but I think that TridentX. MSI was never good in memory training and timing tweaking.

With these TridentX 2400 CL9 is kinda funny story. They're not available for about a year and 1-2 months ago back to production. I didn't check what is inside the kit from last month but new double sided TridentX 2400 CL10 have something new as they're acting weird while OC but SPD/XMP profiles are the same as before.
For last year we could buy only single sided kits of 2x4GB or 4x4GB. All these good clocking TridentX on HYK0 IC that we see on the forums are almost only from 2012.

Thanks guys (and thanks for the links PolRoger!)

Funny...really thought the dommies were the ones to go with since they can run so tight at 2400. Can't wait to get the cpu and start giving things a go.

You can use dominators if they're running so good but I think that PSC will run at 2600+ 8-11-8/8-12-8 at similar voltage. Have to compare what will offer higher performance.

Would choice of sticks change if I was going to cool them under the ss?

Depends from sticks, some like cold, some not so much. You have to try it yourself. My Dominators/PSC don't like 1.85V+ regardless of used cooling while G.Skills/PSC run up to 2V+ and better cooling was helping to make higher clock and tighter timings.
