The answer to you question will depend on your use. Is this system used primarily for gaming? What kind of computing tasks do you want to speed up? And if your aim is to improve gaming performance then what games do you play? Some games are more CPU dependent than others.
Athlon X4's are hurting little chips. Especially the older ones. What is your motherboard chipset and socket? Maybe there's a better CPU you can drop in. Are you using DDR3? You might look at something like a G3258 and an H97 board. Overclocked, the Pentium will smoke your chip in gaming despite only being dual core.
