choose a cpu for gaming based on single core performance or multicore ?

hi,so i was building a new pc for my friend and i wanted to choose between the i5-4590 and the fx-8350 and in specs i found that the i5 have better single core performance and the fx-8350 has better multicore performance so a stuck at which one do i choose,thanks for help

For gaming, I would stick with the intel quad at this time.

Because it is faster per core and games at this time do not use more than 2-4 cores.

ahaaaaaa,so the amd one is faster when full with the 8 cores but it performance per core is lower than the i5 right ?

Correct. There are plenty of benchmarks on the web showing just that.
