I want to upgrade my brothers laptop with a new wireless card. will the intel centrino 6235 work with his amd hp laptop. the hardware matches up i just don't know about the software end of it.

HP usually locks downs the wireless cards that you can use in BIOS. Unless the card you want to use is on that specific laptop's support list (if you can even find a list) it won't work.

Try it and see what happens. The worst that occurs is it doesn't work.
Grumper, I had no idea they did that. I hate firmware lockdowns on laptops, and keep running into it with batteries. Ugh. Makes my life complicated.

It's annoying, especially since they seem to favor garbage Broadcom chips. Dell and Acer are usually better about accepting whatever at least.
