would you recommend playing a pc game on a tv that has 120 hrtz?

There is no reason not to. Some tv's have really bad latency so it really depends on what you have.
2K (2048 X 1152) is almost the same as 1080 (1920 X 1080) so no great boost there.
Your 6950 will not be maxing the refresh on your 120htz on many titles these days anyways.

120Hz tvs do not accept a signal greater than 60Hz. The extra frames are interpolated by the TV.

Some TVs do support a true 120Hz and not just marketing 120Hz, even if they don't specifically list it. Even something as cheap as the 4K Seiki supports it in 1080p mode. (Of which, the Seiki is an excellent choice for those who have one setup for work and games.)
