Hello:
I'm helping out a buddy with his computer. This rig needs a fresh install of Windows because it's been years (he is using XP) and it barley moves with all the crap on it. I told him I'd help him out.
He has a ASUS P5N-E SLI mobo. I have an old copy of Windows 7 Pro 64 bit I'm giving him since I'm using Windows 8.1 now. I'm also giving him a used SanDisk Extreme 120GB SSD that I'm not using to try and add some pep to his rig.
I've been trying to load the Win 7 CD and all its doing is booting off the CD to what seems like a desk top. Never once asking me to load windows like it normally does. I reformatted the SSD prior to the install attempt. What is going on? I am lost.
One of his DVD units is an Master IDE and the other is a SATA. Trying to list everything that could be causing this issue.
Also, The BIO'S does it say ACHI for the SSD anyware.
Any ideas what the heck going on or I'm doing wrong?
