GTA 5 online ps4- what do i need to do to transfer character? it wont update

So i got a ps4 and would like to transfer my ps3 character over, but it wont let me go online. I have playstation plus. it shows an update in my downloaded files section, but when i look at the software it still says 1.00. also, do i need to finish the prologue again first before doing the transfer?
