three card folding

I have 2 7970's that i fold here and there with, I download wu's and finish them then shut down for a day or two, they are in two rigs.
I have an r9 290 on the way, should I bust one of my crosshair boards and my thuban out of prison and force all three heathen slaves into one cell?
would I need the crossfire ribbons? can I just chain them in the slots and and whip and flail them?

yes you should, and no you should not need ribbons. whip em good.

I have settled on driver 13.4 to drive the 7970's will this also be the best driver for a 290?

Looks like the 290/x wasn't supported until 13.11,12

cd you'll want to be running a 14.xx series driver to get the most out of your 7970's

There has been a couple threads covering AMD gpu drivers if you want more info.

(I have been running AMD's latest driver 14.12 since day of release without issue & maybe even a slight increase in ppd)

I'll swap the 7970's to 14.11 tonight and see what happens.
when luis ships me the 290 I'll just leave that in.

Just a side note here, I have to used modded 13.12 drivers on one machine due to running 5 and 6 cards on it. 4 or less, the newer drivers are better.

Just a heads up, Catalyst 14.12 doesn't do well on the 7970, at least not mine, and a few other reported.
The 13000 series work units take about 4 minutes longer per frame then with any prior Catalyst versons.

14.9's seem the best to me. Definetly better with multi gpu's in one machine

I'll try one more work unit on 14.9 but faulty work units will do us no good.
I'll try backing the clock back from 1100 to 1050.

I wasn't aware there were issues with the 14.12....... My apologies cd.

14.4 or 14.9 should be good to go...... Anything but 13.XX series really is the point.

every time i change drivers it corrupts something and to run the 290 I'll have to work it all out anyway so, no time like now!!!!

Not sure what going on with your rig......Changing drivers should not corrupt anything.

Since Janus67 brought it up........Now that HFM works with the latest Fahclient there is no reason to run anything but release 7.4.4.....

Have the cards been stress tested yet ??? If not, that is where i think you should start.

I would also remove the fahclient (delete everything) and drivers. (running a driver cleaning program from safe mode after)

Then install 14.9 drivers, as well as the 7.4.4 client & see how that goes. (Again, make sure to stress test the card(s) before attempting to run FAH this time around)

I'm using 7.3 so i'll update that while I'm at it.
I have run heaven for a few hours on each of the 7970's so they are ok.

I'll have to figure out code tags at some point.
