Hi, I was wondering which is the best option out of these televisions and monitors for gaming on the Xbox one and watching cable.Would I need any special cables to hook my cable box up to a monitor? Any input will be greatly appreciated , thank you.

You will want a display with HDMI input for the easiest usage of the xbox, do you plan to have the cable tv pass through the xbox or also go to the tv/monitor? If so you will either need an HDMI switch or a tv with multiple hdmi inputs (unless you want to be cable swapping constantly).

If you go the monitor route you will also want to think about how you will handle sound output, unless your monitor comes with built-in speakers (Which 99% of which are pretty poor quality) you will likely want a way to passthrough the audio to your speakers.

I'm leaning towards a computer monitor because of the lower lag and better response times for gaming, compared to tvs. I plan on having the cable connect to the monitor. What would I need to connect speakers to the monitor to work with xbox and cable? I'm thinking of this monitor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001861 or this one http://www.bestbuy.com/site/nec-dis...1306473161.p?id=mp1306473161&skuId=1306473161 I think its used as a display for static images in doctor offices and stores should it work fine with non static images? That monitor is 60hz and 1080p, could I use one with a higher resolution and 120hz for xbox( or would it be pointless) as they have more ports. Thanks for your input and sorry it took me a while to respond, was on vacation.

I know of no computer oriented monitor that includes a remote to control anything. Normally, you have to use the menu buttons on the monitor itself to access the volume control, which could mean going through multiple menu pages/tabs/options before you even get to the volume control.

Stick with a TV that has multiple inputs. There are some that are "gamer" oriented which you can disable all processing so that you get the least amount of input lag as possible.

http://www.necdisplay.com/p/large--screen-displays/e464 That one seems to have speakers built in, and its made for doctors offices and restaurants so they are probably decent. I really am leaning towards a monitor the lag on tvs is just disgusting. This one also has a tv tuner built in. The lowest lag tv I've been able to find has 23ms which is still too high. Could I use an AV receiver to control the speaker volume if I need them or some sort of Bluetooth setup?
