Your 670 will be crippled in-game at 4K.
A lot of games, even on low detail will end up in the single digit FPS range. AKA slideshow.
 
At 1440p you're going to be looking at 20-30 FPS, maybe a bit more.
You'll have issues with textures popping in and out though, as you'll run out of vRAM.

Gotcha. Do you think a 970 would suffice? Would also like to hear anyones input on this monitor.

I have read the rumors about G-sync being enabled via software as well so that would make monitor shopping easier.
 
If you are comfortable with it 'actually' being a 3.5GB card (GTX 970), which a lot are, then that is the card of choice.
 
The monitor has to have G-Sync capability for you to use G-Sync.
A 970 would be fine for 1440p.
