World in Conflict vs WIN 8.1... does it work?

I had WIC on DVD and used to play it on Win XP. Later when I tried to run it on win 7 it would often CTD, so I gave up on it. I lost the disc. I see it for sale on Steam for $10. Is the version on Steam updated to be compatible with Win 7 and 8.1 (especially 8.1?)

If it is I'd like to pic it up again.
