BIOS Password issues

Hi, I'm trying to repair a laptop for a friend that the HD died in a Acer Aspire 5534. The problem, is that somehow they created a password on the BIOS but have no idea what it is and the system will not let me install a new HD and copy of Windows without first getting to the BIOS to unlock it. Any ideas, I've searched all over Google and cannot find a way to reset this thing.

Pull the battery and do a full CMOS clear.
