Overclock e8400 up to 400 FSB with 800Mhz DDR2 is safe?

my configuration is:
Asus P5Q, 2x2GB Team Elite DDR2 800, e8400 step E0, Noctua NH U12S

i want overclock e8400 to 4ghz for daily use.. but the memory go up to frequency over the default one
is safe for ram or there is the risk to damage it?

You should be able to drop the ram speed with one of the straps in bios to keep it close to original speed.
 
using the 1:1 ratio which is the lowest one possible on intel based boards for LGA775. At a fsb speed of 400mhz your ram speed would be DDR2-800, DDR beind dual data rate, so 400mhzX2=800 effective rate of the ram. if your using a NV board you can lock ram speed using the unlocked mode in NV6xx/7xx chipsets.

other then that your going to need to test your ram to see how much faster it can go before not working. as in use a lower fsb for the cpu so its not overclocked use a higher ram ratio. either lower ram timings and increase ram voltage while ocing the ram. the model of the ram will help but depeding on where your at buying new DDR2 may not be cheap.

would would help us more is some screen shots of cpuz being the ram/spd tabs.
