Are there this much difference in speed from these?
one is a evo 240 x2 in a raid on a sata 3 port
the other is a evo 1 tb on a sata 2 port
the higher is the evo on sata 2

I would guess that one has rapid mode enabled

One is using RAPID, the other isn't.

Is rapid mode possible in a raid and is it beneficial for the OS overall?

No, you cannot.
Yes, it is faster with RAPID.

Isee,so it would lots better to run my OS of of a rapid enabled ssd than on a raid
I woulda figured the opposite
