24 pin power connector not flush with motherboard

My motherboard is a brand new MSI Z87-G41 "Military Grade" (hah!). The 24 pin power connector is not flush with the motherboard; the row of pins closer to the CPU is higher than the other, by a significant amount. Anyone ever seen something like this? The connector is not loose (tried moving it with my hand), so it must be a manufacturer defect. I'm sort of afraid to use it, in case there is a short or some pins are not contacting completely. I bought it in September and just installed it yesterday when I got the CPU.
