I don't care about brand name or features. All I need is for it to be 27", 1440p native, 60hz+ (more is better obvi), have DVI, HDMI, VGA, or Display Port, and be under $250. Speakers are preferable no matter how ****ty.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/151649925665?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT -This one makes no note of having an off-grade panel or any defects of the sort. $210
2560x1440p - 8ms response - 1,000:1 contrast - 50,000:1 dyanmic contrast - 300cd/m^2 brightness - HDMI & DVI-D - does not make note of any cords or total inputs

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-WASABI-...901?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item566ec2b285 - This one looks like it has a much higher build quality, shows it comes with all cords (power, DVI-D, and audio) has DVI-D, Dual HDMI 1.4a, or a Display Port 1.2 port.
2560x1440p - 6.5ms response - 1,000:1 contrast - 1mil:1 dynamic contrast - 440cd/m^2 brightness - 2x HDMI 1.4a, DVI-D, DP 1.2, - says it can have up to 5 dead pixels out of the 3.7 mil and you can get a $30 refund if it has more.

The Wasabi QHD277 looks like the better choice for me. What do you guys think and do you have any other recommendations?

Do you think getting a 4k monitor is worth it? Will running games at a lower resolution that native look bad? I'd love to be watching online videos at 4k like LinusTechTips or channels like that.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/141491375063?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT - If I get a 1440p I am 99% sure this one is it (or its bro with more video ports for $15 more)

and if i went with 4k, it would be one inch bigger and be 4k

again, my main issue is that I know I cant game at 4k, so will turning the res down look bad or just as good as a native 1440p?

Hi there,

First of all, please don't bump threads in less than 24 hours, let alone 3 hours after your last post. People will see if and respond if they have an answer. It's a Sunday evening.

Secondly, regarding 4k it depends on the monitor for how well it will scale a different resolution assuming you wanted to run it full screen. It would probably be fine, but text may just not look perfect.

If you go the 1440p route it looks like that monitor could hit up to 120hz with overclocking which would be great if you have a game and card that can hit that kind of FPS. You could also always use VSR (virtual super resolution) or whatever nVidia calls it to upscale your monitor resolution to essentially 4K res, I have 2 of my 1440p screens running at 3200x1800 right now and it looks pretty decent (and witcher3 looks good, for what it's worth)

Well I ended up purchasing the Crossover 285K True 4k monitor. They advertise that it runs at 60hz at 4k, should run a 120hz OC at 1440p, and should run a 144hz OC at 1080p. All that said matched with a 1ms response time and stereo speakers makes this thing seem a little too good to be true, but we will find out! Ill leave a review once I get it. (Is there any place on this forum dedicated to reviews??)

There absolutely is a place dedicated to reviews:

If you end up writing up a nicely written review/etc in the forum thread one of the site editors may reach out to you to write up an official article for the site (my first article was based on a Battlefield 3 review I wrote in the forums).

I was just wondering what are the risks with overclocking a panel? I have it at 4k @ 75hz and 1440p @ 120hz. 79hz for 4k does not work, so will running it at 75hz be too close to the limit? I think that 70hz sounds reasonable. Also, will this make any videos that are running at 30 or 60fps a little choppy since those dont go into 70 very well??

My monitor came most likely as one of the better ones. There is some backlight bleed along the bottom (only visible on a black screen and who cares anyway???) along with a single dead pixel even when I purchased pixel perfect.

Sorry, I don't have a great answer.

Monitors can be damaged by OCing, but there's no "keep it under x setting" like a CPU or GPU.
