I have, yet another 965 on the way in, sweet chips.
what board to go with?

had one of these, great board for a 965, will get me all I'll ever get from the lump.

never had one of these but seems more for an fx 4 or 6 core to me, a bit more overkill than I need.

have had one or two of these, way big overkill, basicly a baby chv-f.

what would you pick and why?

I have pretty much made up my mind and I'm not going to tell you till the end, just try to sway me your way.
money's no issue, niether is gear, I have enough to do what the chip will do.
the use??? just bsing around, benching for grins and giggles, a 965 is, to my mind , one of the best toys to have in your toy box that will also purr like a little kitty when you just want to surf.

Ya know, I have one of those M5A 99FX pro sitting here in a box collecting dust. Great board and you're right would also run a 6 core FX quite well but a bit limited for the 8.

why is it collecting dust, poor feature set for your use?
bios not enough for benching?

More or less. I have all the big dogs so it gets pushed away from the feed trough.
I has a good bios pretty much everything the Sabo has just less power.

well it's done, I had all three out and looking at them and I had to get the sabertooth.
the only reason is that I might, just might get a wild hair and put the 8350 in it.
the m5a97 R2.0 would have done all I need it to do with the 965 but would be right on the line if I threw my thuban on it.
the m5a99fx pro would have been able to get all I can get from the 965 and my thuban but it looked just a little lacking in the vrm section for hammering 8 cores at high clocks for hours on end.

well, this kind of sucks, got it installed and up to 4.0 with out even trying, it's to much like home.
I guess I'll have to get a gigabyte ud5 I saw on the shelf, nothing to learn here.
