I recentally installed windows 10. When I plugged in my external, my external hdd light did not turn on, however I could hear the sound of a usb being plugged in, and I can feel the hdd moving when I hold it. It was not showing up in windows. I tried multiple USB slots and yet it would not work. I plugged it in to my laptop, and it pops up no problem. Any advice or help?

See if you can assign a drive letter in Disk Management. If it doesn't show there, check Device Manager to see if there are problems. I recently had a customer with a very similar issue, and the drive was not connecting because Windows thought it was being disconnected. A quick restart solved the issue.
