This making things with FDM looks really interesting. I've heard of doctors making dental implants for their patients. Even plastic surgery parts but this is great. I remember taking out a payday loan back in Kitchener, Ontario, just to buy a 3d printer.

I've been watching Youtube videos on this technology for a few days now and the applications look awesome. Love to make my own drum thrones and play my drum sets. It's for a movie's soundtrack and casting which is great.

You even need to get a just Google / Youtube has so much info.

Is anyone familiar with this? Apparently you can make your own 'ready to go' PC parts as well. Then sell them and invoice your clients as a freelancer.

I know they use 3d printed parts in ophthalmology clinics for their patients but this is awesome.

The 3D printers that are required to make stuff are super expensive though. I learned about this stuff from a Vancouver based seo specialist.

Love to learn more about this (Especially if someone is already making their own PC Parts).

Why go to BestBuy when you can print your own PC? Ha! Hopefully this is not just a fad . . .

3D Printing isn't just a fad by any means. The technology has been around for multiple years and is now starting to hit a consumer level instead of just a commercial level.

Not all the printers are overly expensive, there are quite a few these days in the ~$500 range.

There have been a few guys here making their own parts, but generally the parts are still cheaper to buy.

Hi Atmininside,

Thanks for your response. This is great. Although $500 is a little out of my budget at the moment, I would love to own a 3D printer. Time to save up :) All my money is already spent on new music production gear -Cheers! I'm a freelancer so I have to keep an eye on my accounting, etc. I know a few dentists so we'll be making veneers soon. Looking forward to that. This 3d printing stuff is definitely big in the health space.

we use one at the shop, great for producing models and mockups, costs like the dickens but much cheaper than a full scale mockup and you can test fit all the pieces before commiting to production.
for the home, a neat toy for the most part.
check with your local library, they might have one, our county system does.

Probably not very well known, but there is PCB 3D printing nearing production ready. There are still a lot of problems with these types of printers, and not to many materials can be used with it.

As for chips? Well those are already 3D printed :)

I would assume that's the only way to fit a billion somethings in such a small area.

Hi Caddi,

Love to know what printer you guys have? Caddi this industry is moving so fast! I love it. Still super pricey but as long as Kevin let's me use it (Our manager) I'm happy. Feel like it's my new passion or something. Ha! Hope all is well. Cheers!

Smaller customized parts I would say makes sense, but for an entire computer...no way!
