It appears that a huge Reserve.tmp 3GB file is placed at this location on some Windows 8 laptops and other computers:
C:\Windows\WinSxS\Reserve.tmp
It appears that its purpose is to ensure that there is at least 3GB worth of free space for future Windows updates.

Deleting it makes sense from the stand point of reducing the drive image file size.

But it does mean that if a Windows Update like .NET update fails, it may have failed due to there not being at least 3GB worth of space on your SSD/hard drive.

So I decided to reclaim that 3GB and someone else should post why it "should be left alone" since web search yields only the "leave it alone" w/o explanation why answer.

Deleting .tmp files 99 percent cause zero issues and you most likely encounter a .tmp file, because of a power failure.
