Replace VRM heatsink thermal tape with paste?

Title says it all. Was wondering if it was conducive to remove the stock tape and replace it with arctic silver 5 paste?

No, use a thermal pad.

If you take the heatsink off you will see why the manufacturer uses a thermal pad.
