UPDATE 19-01-2016

Hey guys

As luck would have it, an acquaintance of mine had a spare PC left over which he didn't have the use for since the PSU that came with the machine had died on him.

This got me thinking and made me decide to change the whole concept of this project into something a little more compact

Instead of a build for my main PC, I will be changing this into a media center build for my "man cave". Originally I was intending to use a RsbPi2 with Kodi for this, but when the opportunity opened up, I just couldn't resist.

I've added everything from the now, discontinued build, into
Code:
so it doesn't confuse people reading the log, but still have the chance to see what I had started on in the first place :-)

Now on with it:

Hardware:
CPU: Intel Core i3 2100
MOBO: Reference Intel ITX
RAM: Not yet decided
HDD: Not yet decided
PSU: Enermax Liberty 500

CPU: EK Supreme FX
RES: XSPC DCC Laing Acrylic top
PUMP: DCC Laing 10w
RAD: OCOOL 120mm
FAN: Phobya Nano-2G 120mm
TUBE: Primochill Primoflex Pro 13/10
FITTINGS: Bitspower + EK

A little teaser to what the new build is looking like:

[CODE]Hey Guys

It's time for a new project :dremel:

I've been wanting to take use of the different watercooling stuff I have lying around, and at the same time find a way to show it off, other than some case, standing on the floor, noone really looks at.

I've been looking around for wallmounted cases to buy, but the cheapskate in me has held back, since my new GTX 980 Ti set me back a few bucks :o, so I figured why not make my own.

Now since I don't have access to any fancy workshop og CNC machines, I'm making this of pure MDF and plexiglas, something that is easy to work with as well as cut with the tools avalible to me.

To Do list:

[LIST]
[*]Build the main frame
[*]Add mounting for the different hardware and cooling
[*]Build support for PSU and maybe GFX - vertical mount to show off possible W/C block
[*]Make holes for cable management
[*]Make holes for radiator airflow
[*]Add hole for the fan controller, as well as power, reset, USBs and LEDs
[*]Add support/frame for plexiglas protection screen
[*]Give finished case a paint job
[*]Add wallmount to the back of the case
[*]Probably a lot more I hadn't thought of to begin with :D
[/LIST]

Hardware I will be using:

[LIST]
[*]CPU: Intel Core i7 2700K
[*]MOBO: ASUS Maximux V Gene
[*]RAM: Corsair Vengeance DD3 16 GB
[*]SSD: Samsung EVO 850 250 GB
[*]HDD: WD Green 1.5TB
[*]GFX: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti SC ACX 2.0+
[*]PSU: Cooler Master V1000
[/LIST]

Cooling that will be used:

[LIST]
[*]CPU: EK Supreme HF
[*]RES: Not yet decided
[*]PUMP: Laing DDC-1T Plus
[*]GFX: Not yet decided
[*]RAD: HW-Labs Black Ice GTX 360
[*]FANS: Phobya Nano-2G
[*]CONT: NZXT Sentry Mix 2
[*]TUBE: Not yet decided - Thinking copper.
[/LIST]

Now nuff talk, lets get started:

Mounted :D

[IMG]http://www.overclockers.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=172231&d=1449907076[/IMG]

Even though I pre-drilled everything, the MDF was still too fragile and ended up cracking in some places:

[IMG]http://www.overclockers.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=172230&d=1449907076[/IMG]

Fixed it up with some MDF spachel:

[IMG]http://www.overclockers.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=172229&d=1449907076[/IMG]

Next up, sanding and spray painting everything matt Black :-)

Waiting for these to arrive in the mail as well:

I wouldn't worry to much about the MDF cracking. That's pretty common. Looking good so far.

Project change :D UPDATE 19-01-2016 1/2

Hey guys

For those of you who didn't read the first post, I will take a moment to just quote myself (that's a first :D) just to make sure I haven't lost anyone in the process

Hey guys

Now on with the update:

The computer given to me, as well as my projector, PSU and keyboard for the media center

[IMG]http://www.overclockers.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=173684&d=1453246002[/IMG]

I am not quite sure what motherboard it is, It looks like a Intel reference board. Antec are the original makers of the PC.

There is a nice i3 processor in there as well :D

Project change :D UPDATE 19-01-2016 2/2

New materials! I will be using foamed plastic for the case instead of MDF, note that the foam has a protective foil over it, so me drawing on it etc. will not be permanent, as well as the edges that look flossed, aren't

Preparing for standoffs:

As before, same concept:

Mounting for the standoffs, that will support the window:

Testing :D

This is the motherboard I mentioned before. Only thing written on it is INTEL DESKTOP BOARD, but it does have all the features I need, as well as a fine Core i3 2100 CPU for the task it needs to perform, when finished.

I've added rubber spacers in between the PSU and case to reduce vibrations:

That's it!

Hope you guys approve of the major change and as always, thanks for looking! :ty:

Awesome progress, can't wait to see more!

That's a tiny mobo!!
Looking good so far as well

It'll look sweet on the wall :)

Very nice Cown. That looks much better than the MDF.

+1

I love the way you have the 2 plastic sheets attached. Gives room for hiding cables

Thought about this with an ATX build. Definitely subbed.

I did not see that turn of events. From MDF to plastic? Sweet!

Thanks a lot guys, glad you like it :)

Yeah, I must say I fell for the tiny mobo, have had a similar build once, with an integrated CPU, but this is just so much better :D and I get to W/C it,

The MDF was starting to get annoying, it kept cracking in different places, and the edges was starting to loose their sharpness, so I saw this as a great opportunity to change they layout.
