Well, 1 of my 4P's is down, not sure if it's the MB or PSU, will find out in the morning.

What happens is if I reboot the 4P while it is still hot or if power goes out, it goes in to a thermal lockup and I have to wait hours or even a day before I can power back on. I'm going to get a new PSU and if it still happens then it's the MB and I really don't want it to be that. On the other hand, if I stop the client and let the 4P cool down before I turn off power or reboot, then no problem.
Any ideas?

Fans blowing on the board? Mine doesn't like hot re-boots, but it's only for about 15min wait time. Shutting off the PSU seems to help the wait time. I've waited up to an hour, but patience went out the window.

Currently mine runs caseless with a box fan circulating air in the room. Don't know how your set-up is configured, but I am curious to see what others have to say. First couple times it wouldn't reboot I was really worried. My 4p is relatively new, so I'm still learning it's quirks.

When I had my supermicro 2p (6176) going it didn't like 'hot' boots either.

Most of my supermicro 4p problems have been the PSU going bad. Started with random reboots then died over the space of a few months.

That stinks. I've got a few idle parts if you find you need something in particular to help get things running again.

What you really mean is you took your 4P apart and it's now in pieces and now you want to give some to me?

Hey guys, take a look at this log and tell me if I need new CPU's:

PID 1717 is the client, everything seems to work till it's time to upload.

Upload uses a separate set of conductors than download. Firefox could be more tolerant of data drops (i.e. higher BER).

Do you have a spare Ethernet card and cable laying around? Worth a shot if you haven't tried it yet.

If it's not the Ethernet, I would think maybe memory before CPU.

I think your missing the point, look at what I have marked in red, and it will upload a WU if I get a a4 type WU.

I'm back at full speed with 2 4P's now, the 4P I had problems with had 2 things wrong with it.
1. PSU was going bad, changed from AX850 to RM1000. (AX850 was a referb)
2. OS was corrupted from a power outage, I reinstalled Ubuntu 14.04.02 and all is good.

Very good!

I was unable to get U 14.04 working on my 4p. It resulted in super slow video so I used U 12.04 instead. Do you have a separate video card?

I'm using a GT210 on both of my 4P's, and I'm using Ubuntu 14.04.02 LTS, 12.xx is end of life.

Glad you got it figured out. Also good to know about EOL on 12.xx. (14.04 wasn't working out for me either. Though it is a BOINC rig.)

for a folding box it shouldn't matter that its EOL, christ xp was EOL when everyone was using it for multi gpu boxes 4-5 years ago

Yes, but you can still share drives, folders and files on XP, with Ubuntu 12.xx, you can NOT install Samba for sharing, for that mater, you can't install any updates on 12.xx. Also 14.10 is EOL as well.
