Hi, first of all I want to say that I am aware there is always to be a volume drop on passive devices.
But here is my issue.
I'm running an asus essence soundcard which does have a headphone amp built into it with high impedance headphones.
I have the amp set to it's middle setting and that have more than enough volume than i'll ever need on these headphones.
After reading reviews on the splitmix4 from artcessories it seemed the only downside was the small volume drop, however seeing as though I wasn't using my amp to it's full potential I figured I could bump that up to make up for the loss and then some.
However, even with everything maxed out the volume is still a little bit under normal listening volume, not to mention when I normally turn it up to listen to music and watch movies.
Is this typical? Or am i doing something wrong or have a defective unit?
When I connect my headphones directly to the soundcard while keeping all the settings the same, the volume probably increased back to more than double what it was when connected to the splitmix4.
