I already have Trident Z F4-3600C16D-16GTZ memory kit for some time but because of issues with motherboard and lack of time I simply had no time to make more tests. It's about a time to make a short review and some additional overclocking results as this memory kit is for sure worth it.

Trident Z 16GB DDR4-3600 kit has two XMP profiles. In DDR4 memory we usually see one XMP profile which is enough but all who are using this memory on X99 motherboards can have some problems to set DDR4-3600 and then lower frequency settings can be helpful.

XMP#1: 3600 16-16-16
XMP#2: 2800 13-13-13

Software has some problems to read second XMP profile.

Memory is based on the latest Samsung IC also known as "B" stepping what you can actually read on the above screenshot.

Below is stability at XMP#1 profile. No issues after couple of hours.

My kit has the same issue with the second XMP profile?

On my ASRock Extreme 6... I couldn't get the second profile to work at 2666/2700/2800 with C13 and 1.2v DRAM. :shrug:

I was able to get up to 2800 14-14-14-34 (1.2v) and then with timings set to 15-15-15-35 (1.2v) I could get up to 3000. ([email protected] and [email protected])

Kind of wish G.Skill had the correct XMP timings programmed in on the second XMP so that I could at least manually enter them to try out.

I do notice from the screenies that the XMP revision is from December 2013. Perhaps there's a newer version? I looked on Samsung's site but, wow, I don't have that kind of time tonight.
 
XMP revision is only like version of technology or maybe accepted standard and it's not changing for years. All DDR4 memory kits I remember have the same date.

I will test some more in couple of days. Yesterday I started overclocking of Trident Z 3000 C14 which is on the same IC.
I haven't been testing any settings below 3000 so far.

With previous testing I had only been able to manage/run at 3733 speed in single channel mode on my ASRock Extreme 6... After some adjustments with the secondary timings I've now got my kit running in dual channel (1.35v DRAM 1.25v VCCSA 1.15v VCCIO).

I was also able to relax timings and boot into windows in single channel mode at both 3866 and 4000 however at 4133 it would fail to post... So far no luck in getting either 3866 or 4000 to post in dual channel mode.

@PolRoger, I had similar results on Ripjaws V 3200 on ASRock Gaming ITX board. I guess that all ASRock boards except OCF have about the same max clock limit. These are generally gaming motherboards which are tunned for stability and optimized for compatibility at lower frequencies.
I guess you can set 3733 16-16-16 at not much higher voltage.

Right now I have 3600+3000/32GB TridentZ @3200 13-13-13 1.35V on ASRock X99M Killer 3.1. There is a chance that soon I will check both on ASRock OCF.
 
ASRock OCF arrived yesterday but it's DOA and store doesn't want to replace it to new one or give me money back so I have to wait what ASRock support decide.

Bah that stinks Woomack. I have to say, I'm liking the Msi Xpower Gaming TE I have (ED's review sample). You guys have made me want to work harder at pushing the DDR4 3200 Ripjaw V 16-16-16 sticks I have. So far I can pass Hyper Pi and an hour of Aida at 3600 15-17-17 1.45 V, 1.25 Sa 1.15 IO. I'm going to try and get the timings lower but so far haven't been able to. I also haven't tried to push them any higher then 3600.
 
Try 1.25V SA/IO for 3733-4000. I have that voltage limit on my MSI and it's enough for 4000 stable. Your MSI has the same DDR4 boost design but 4 memory slots so I guess it can also pass 4000 without issues. At least I like MSI Z170 much more than ASUS or lower ( than OCF ) ASRock.
 
My local Micro Center store had a clearance/open-box ASUS Maximus VIII Impact available... I figured I would go ahead and try out one of these (tiny) ITX motherboards and M.C. has a 30 day return window on it to help determine if this particular sample might have any issues?

I was able to get my kit running in dual channel mode on the Impact at both 4000 and 4133! Maybe there is still some room to push these sticks a little further... :thup:

Nice :thup: About the same as my kit can make on MSI. When I get asrock back then I will try tighter timings and higher voltages what on msi isn't really possible.

Here is one result which was possible by only setting XMP in BIOS and 1.35V

I just picked up this kit and plugged it in for the first time this evening. It will boot with XMP Profile #2 at 2800 but not #1 at 3600. When I try to boot at 3600 I boot right into a Windows error saying it can't find the kernel file. MSI Z170A Gaming 7, OC'd to 4.5Ghz. I've been using a Vengeance 4x4 3000Mhz kit with this setup but thought I'd give some faster RAM a try. Admittedly, I've never really messed with OC'ing memory before so I'm quickly out of my depth here. Any help would be appreciated.
 
- be sure that you are using slots 2/4 counting from CPU side ( should be marked as use first in the manual )
- can try with VCCSA/VCCIO 1.2-1.25V
- can try to set 3600 16-16-16 1.35V manually while turning off XMP
- update BIOS to the latest version ( one of the last releases had some improvements for all MSI series )

If you won't make it work at 3600 then you can try something like 3200 CL13-13-13/14-14-14 or 3466 14-14-14/15-15-15. Performance is not much worse.
 
I've double-checked all those settings and tried manually setting for 3600, still no go. 3200 won't even work. I can get it to work at the settings I had my Vengeance at. I don't know too much about memory overclocking yet, but having read through many threads the past few weeks, it sounds entirely possible I just got some bad chips, or maybe just one. I went on MSI's website and oddly enough this particular 3600 kit is not listed as compatible.... perhaps that could also be the problem. At this point I'm just going to return it and get a kit I see on the compatibility list.
