Hard Decision. For 4k gaming & editing, Dell up3216q vs Acer XB321HK?

I have the dell panel and love it, however I see this monitor is out now. What is better for both gaming & editing? The Dell panel is flawless, however has no "in-display" color, gamma adjustments. Only brightness contrast. It also has no speakers (reference only). The stand and build quality are great. I just wonder if the Acer panel will have better "uniform" blacks or at least be equal to.

The acer has G-Sync and for me running Witcher, fallout 4 and other games that I am getting 55-60fps I imagine will be butter smooth. However I do edit 4k & 6k RED footage and do a lot of photo/video editing as well.


I had asked a question like this before but now this monitor is out. So what do you guys think? I was looking at the BenQ 32" 4k IPS monitor as well but it doesn't do 4k 60hz and I believe the Dell and Acer do. Although I use display port mostly.

The Dell is a factory color calibrated IPS, you won't beat it for editing.

Monitor stands, from Dell, are the best I've seen on the market.

As for the speakers, most built in to monitors are garbage. Get a good set of standalone speakers.

Yea I agree. I just wonder how good the predator would be. Going to be a tough decision.

Doubt it'll even come close to your Dell in terms of lighting uniformity and color representation.
The Predator isn't color calibrated like the Dell is.

Oh ok. I was wondering because ally of people say that predator monitors are amazing. I saw it had gsync and it also is .5" bigger.

It's a great gaming monitor, don't get me wrong, it just lacks some of the picture quality for editing when compared to the Dell you have.

So it's not worth the trade off of color accuracy for gsync?

I also found this Phillips monitor. Someone had suggested it saying that it was better for gaming than the Dell but also factory calibrated, is this true?

Not if you're doing a lot of editing.

What I have read. It's 40". I just don't like that unlike the Dell it doesn't have hdmi 2.0, I do have mini display port and display port from my Mac Pro and custom computer tho.

I just don't want to make the wrong decision. My Dell is amazing but some 24hz video and games have a little glitchy look to it. Like video sliding left to right in 24p tends to blink the screen and look a little weird not sure if that is ips issue tho.

Your current UP3216Q has none of those issues.

I do notice a slight glow in the corners due to viewing angle in the dell. Its not horrible and for IPS the blacks are good but just want to make sure I have the best size, quality, and performance for gaming and editing.

With what you have pointed out, its back to the Dell & Predator monitors.

The Predator will have the same stand issues, it isn't color calibrated, and the screen won't be of quite the quality level of the Dell.
