Sometimes. It seperates the drives from the Intel controller. Also running IDE can help. Not saying it'll work miracles but those are things you try when benching just to get another 15 MHz

I think the gigabyte board has one of those extra sata ports too. Might need a better cooler though. I have the stock one but it seems to handle the 2300 up to 3.5Ghz.
