I'm looking for a 15 inch class laptop.
Long battery life.
CD/DVD drive.
Full keyboard with number pad.
4 threads.

This is for very basic needs. I mostly use it for Netflix, yelp, googlemaps, email, etc. Very light stuff. Anything as a starting point would be great.

Looking at this one. I would upgrade the RAM to 8 or 16 GB of DDR3L and upgrade the wireless NIC to 802.11ac. I would also remove the 1 TB HDD for my 256 SSD. Except for the RAM, I already have the other upgrades so my additional cost is $0.00

Looks like the machine could run up to 5 hours. Assuming this is incorrect, It would be nice to get 3.5 - 4 hours.

I'm replacing an AMD Phenom II N970 with 8 GB. It has always done exactly what I needed at a speed that feel good. The A8-6410 is very close in performance I think.

I like this one, but it shows that there is no RAM slots open and it does not tell me how many slots total.

Battery of "up to 7.5 hours".
Better passmark score than my old N970. Just barely better.

edit: The NIC is 10/100 not gigabit. Probably not a deal breaker but come on! This day and age, no gigabit?
