Sorry for the horrible title, I'm a mechanical engineer and I need to get a parts list for a computer by Monday morning. I was given a little budget of 2k to build a workstation pc including mouse keyboard and screen, (I need everything except software). I'll be using this computer for Solidworks, cad cam, inventor, autocad. I need pretty much everything. I use to be into videogames years ago and know nothing now. Size doesn't matter pc case wise, but I need a xeon processor, 32gb ecc ram and probably no more than 512gb ssd. everything gets backed up on a server. Not sure if I need a workstation card, my friend recommended m4000 but its around $850 and has no reviews.

Thank you.

This might help. http://www.computeraideddesignguide.com/best-graphics-card-for-cad-programs/ Doesn't sound like from this article that you need to put $800 into a video card to get the job done. I would recommend the Samsong EVO series SSD drives. Spend some money on a quality PSU. The EVGA Supernova GS series is a favorite around here. You won't need a high wattage unit. 600W should be more than enough.

Monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236153 = $162

Optical: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135204 $20

2xSATA 18" cable: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...4558&cm_re=SATA_cables-_-12-200-108-_-Product = $13.10

Wireless Keyboard and Mouse combo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...yboard_and_mouse_combo-_-23-126-188-_-Product = $30

Total = $1357 plus a little shipping. That's with the cheaper video card. And I don't know if CAD stuff requires a special mouse or not.

Will you need to purchase the OS too?

This should put you well under $2000.
