Hey y'all,
I've been very much a lurker with an account for a long time. (Some time in 2012). I've been reading and learning silently in that time. You've all been very helpful over the years.
I just picked up a new main setup:
I've taken to overclocking it finally after about a month or so. Right now she runs stable at these specs:
I have a couple of questions that might be a bit too easy to answer for you guys, but I am very much not into breaking my equipment:
Thank you all in advance for any help.
I've been very much a lurker with an account for a long time. (Some time in 2012). I've been reading and learning silently in that time. You've all been very helpful over the years.
I just picked up a new main setup:
- ASRock Z170M Extreme4
- 2x8GB G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4-3200
- i5-6600K
I've taken to overclocking it finally after about a month or so. Right now she runs stable at these specs:
- CPU: 4.4 GHz @ 1.28 v
- Cache/Ring/Uncore: 4.0 GHz
- RAM: DDR4-3200 (1600 MHz) @ 1.4 v on XMP timings
I have a couple of questions that might be a bit too easy to answer for you guys, but I am very much not into breaking my equipment:
- Does the voltage on the CPU seem high for the clock that I'm getting? (So you don't have to look it up: stock clock is 3.5 GHz, cache is 3.9 GHz)
- The XMP for my RAM says that I should be able to get these timings (16-16-16-36) at only 1.35 v, but I can't. I get the BSOD when trying to run at just 1.35 v. Is it safe to run this stuff at .05 v over the XMP "tested speed," or am I playing with fire?
- Do you have any suggestions that might help me push the little extra bit to 4.5 GHz on my 6600K?
Thank you all in advance for any help.
