Can I get away with a 750w PSU?

On my folding server?

2x 280x (OC'd to 1050Mhz Core)
1x 3570K @ 2Ghz. (I will be undervolting this)
1x HDD
1x PCIe Wifi card
No keyboards or anything else.

Looking at 781 Watts according to the outervision PSU calc, and it's recommending an 830W PSU?
That seems a lot higher than it should... I thought the 280x's were 200 watts OC'd?

That calculator has issues sometimes.

I run 2 hd7970 and a 4690k all oced in my benching rig on a 750w psu without issue.

500W of GPU, 77W of GPU... stock. Add 50W for the rest of the system.
Mild OC, I'd say you're around 700W worst case.

280x's are 250W TDP IIRC, as ATMINSIDE said. @stock.

1050 is a mild OC, if you are using stock voltage, you will be OK.

Picked up an EVGA 750 GQ for it. So far so good!
Underclocked the 3570K to 1.6GHz to help reduce power draw where I can

Do you have a kill a watt meter, I would be interested to know what the actual draw is.

I dont, but i should be able to get the amperage draw which is just as accurate :)

Voltage will be about 112v guaranteed. My line voltage is low sometimes

Ill get the figures tonight. I was at a buddys house late last night.

I also installed the psu upside down..... The fan was completely blocked off.

Even then it was only exhausting warm air not hot air

Don't know if my usage is similar to yours or not, but I was able to run a somewhat similar setup on a 650W PSU.

Intel i5 4690K
2x 8GB DDR3-1600
2x GTX 680's (195 Watts each IIRC)
1x 500GB SSD
1x 1TB HDD
10 fans (4 Gentle Typhoon AP-15's, 3 Corsair AF140L's, 2 Cougar CF-V12HB's, 1 NZXT FN-140RB)
Corsair RM650i 650 Watt

Under load (while gaming) I was maxing out at 400-425W at the wall (and system power usage was lower overall due to inefficiency).

While running Prime95 or Intel XTU I think the highest I got for the system overall was 200W total usage.

According to Extreme Outervision I should need a 700-750W PSU, but I never had any instabilities with a 650W one.

Yeah the draw is similar. Im betting it'll be around 650 watts. Ill have the amperage reading tomorrow, currently at a buddys house for a friday night beer to end the week :)

So it idles at .52 amps and runs at 3.03 amps.

62.4 watts and 363.6 watts loaded.
Not bad at all!!!

Yup, I measured again a few hours later, 2.99 Amps. Seems to stay around there.

So that means it only costs $36/month in power!
