FEATURED Patriot Viper 4 2x4GB DDR4-3600 CL17 - PV48G360C7K

I've found 2x4GB 3600 Patriot pretty cheap and I couldn't resist. In this thread I will present what I could make on PV48G360C7K so 2x4GB DDR4-3600 CL17 memory kit from Patriot which is already for some time on the market but its price was never so low.

Patriot Viper 4 DDR4-3600 memory has one XMP profile : 3600 17-18-18 2N 1.35V. There could be one more lower frequency profile as not all motherboards support so high frequency but I assume that all who are buying DDR4-3600 memory have good reason to do it ( at least in theory ).

Photos were made and will add them other day.

XMP profile is working without issues on MSI Z170I Gaming Pro AC motherboard with old 1.4T BIOS. On new BIOS it will work for sure.

Overclocking Results

XMP timings @3733 17-18-18 1.35V


XMP timings @3866 17-18-18 1.35V


3733 16-17-17 1.45V


4000 20-21-21 1.45V

I'm not sure if it's the motherboard or memory but 4000 was already a big step considering additional voltage and more relaxed timings.
4133+ wasn't stable and didn't want to pass HyperPi 32M ( not to mention longer tests ).

I've been away from the forums for a while... So I'm catching up on some of your previous kit reviews.

What is the density ic/chip config like on these 2x4GB sticks?

4 chips per...single-sided on each stick?

I left them at work so I won't check now but it's older Samsung IC which was for longer on the market. About the same as you can find in most higher clocked 4GB modules. I got this kit just because I needed additional kit for tests and price wasn't much higher than ~2133-2400 kits.
I don't think there is anything new from lower density IC. Everything new is single rank 8GB or dual rank 16GB modules and everything higher clocked is Samsung. There are new Microns as you can see 3200 Crucial kits on the market but if I'm right they're not overclocking much higher than ~3333. It was impossible to make mass production of higher frequency kits based on earlier Micron IC.
Patriot has some new 2x8GB 3600-3866 kits. I had no chance to test them but I guess they're based on already well known Samsung "B".
