DDR4 Memory... What Speed to Get?

Ok looking at a build that hopefully will complete here in the next few days/months. Think the last thing on the list is ram.
What should I look at getting, is there benefits of really going from 2133 to 3200 or somewhere in between? Guess trying to find the sweet spot/price.

Gaming is my main stay, maaaaaaaybe do some 3d renderings here and there or some video remixing.

Originally I planned on just getting 16GB of 3200 ram at the best CL rating, which I think is 14. Though if there really isn't that great of benefit curious if a lower speed at the same CL rating would do just fine. I don't mind a little OC just didn't want to spend more than needed for the ram.

The sweetspot for price and performance, currently (who knows in "months" when you may buy, is ddr4 3000-3200 cl14/15.

Sweet spot is ~3000 CL15.

I think you get hit with the law of diminishing returns above 3600 MHz, but I would get the fastest I could afford (and did), 3000 MHz CL14.

Thanks guys. Seems like I'm in the range of sweet spot then. 3000-3200 with CL14/15 it is!

You can't go wrong with new Trident Z kits. All are on Samsungs and most are on new IC which is overclocking great. You can check my tests. Generally 2x8GB 3000 CL14-14-14, 3200 CL13-13-13/14-14-14/15-15-15, 3600 CL15-15-15/16-16-16/17-18-18 ( these last were mixed in early batches ), 3733 CL17 are all on new Samsungs and are overclocking to about the same max clock.

I like my TridentZ. The brushed metal and red highlights work with my build, but the Ripjaws are some aggressive looking critters. I like them, too. That's why I used them in my previous build.

These are the latest I got, 2x8GB 3200 C14 but I also have 3000 C14, 3200 C15 and 3600 C16. All are on the same Samsung IC.

My 3200 C14 overclocked to 3600 15-15-30 1T @1.4v (still don't know if thats good or average or meh). Been getting more stable with every new BIOS iteration though, so will probably need to retest sometime in the near future. A good purchase ?

All my Trident Z run at 3600 15-15-15 1.35-1.40V. 3200 CL15 and 3000 CL14 need ~1.4V while 3200 CL14 and 3600 CL16 need ~1.35V. I guess there is that price difference.

So besides price (~20 uk pounds in this case) whats the difference between Ripjaws and Trident if they can achieve roughly the same clocks ?

The heat spreaders is the only difference they both have the same ICs.

Well thats good to know! Good input guys looking forward to any other tips if you got them prior to purchase.
Been a few years (5 1/2) since a major overhaul on the system so looking forward to it.

Holding for a month or so... had an unexpected expense and a bit of traveling for work the next few weeks but still looking to complete this by years end. Been on the fence for a few years now and I think it is time, retire this system to backup or sell it to someone with a little lesser of a need then me which is probably 95% of the population haha.

So after looking at this more... Trident and Ripjaws are the exact same chips just different heat spreaders and $10 in the US. Not only that but 3000, 3200, and 3600 sets are all the same IC's?

That being said might just nab the Ripjaw 3000 CL14's and save $20 from the Trident Z 3200 CL14's I had picked out.

I just contacted G.SKILL he said he believes the Trident and Ripsaws v IC's are different, he did not know how though.

I looked at Woomack's reviews and the Trident and Ripsaws v use Samsung IC's it did not say the difference in them, did I miss something?
