I have had a old AMD dual core with 2gig of ddr2 (maybe even ddr1) running the old FreeNas . Right now it just has one 3tb and 2 1tb (in raid1). And has worked fine.
My new goals aren't that much more, hoping to offload my Plex server to this box (from my main) , as well run peerblock + my torrents . The lowest on the list would be running Google's picissa (in a VM if needed)
I haven't done much research on what os yet but I figure one Linux distro that I can install zfs.
I have a 60gig OCZ ssd for the os and plan on running 3x3tb in a zfs raid . Everything I have seen says ECC ram is a must or I would just use my Haswell and get a new kabby Lake.
Power usage isn't a big deal but the lower the better for a 24/7 rig.
I found a few used on Kijiji that I'm interested in .
Do you think this setup is enough for the low load that will be used from 1-3 Plex streams.
I would take the 50$ upgrade to 32gigs of ram
