I'd invest in a hair dryer and Kill-A-Watt. Plug the hair dryer into it, and test each AC outlet for voltage drop. If it drops only 3-4 volts when the hair dryer runs, the circuit is really good, but apparently 7V is considered OK. Bigger voltage drops usually indicate a bad connection.
