The general consensus is that there is too much overhead to make it worth doing. (There's a huge penalty for emulating ARM code on x86.) Wait for a good deal on cheap smartphones or mine coins that are actually worth mining on PCs.
Back when Perk was worth mining, many coiners did try mining with VMs. The first obstacle is that the mining software would not run in a VM since it uses native ARM code. Someone did bypass that (fool the app into thinking it's running on ARM) but it ended up being very slow at mining.
I had crypto miner running on my s5, 1.1khashes-1.74 khashes, but my status wasn't changing on slushpool. I had the url, username and pw all correct. Not sure what I was doing wrong.
