ARMA strives to be a military SIM. It is much more difficult than any other FPS (and it's not really an FPS) out there.
TBH, never played the campaign. I bought it for King of the Hill and Battle Royal.
I have not played ARMA or ARMA 2.

Arma 2 is pretty good!
But I'll have enough on my plate with Arma3, with very little time to play....

Elite Dangerous - MMO space combat/trading - E.V.E, Freelancer, etc.
ARMA - Like Soulcatcher668 said, FPS military simulator. Ever play Vampire: The Masquarade - Bloodlines? Nothing like ARMA.
