Ryzen 7 overclocking statistics

I want to overclock Ryzen 7 (1700) to 4Ghz, but I'm worried about Voltage and delivered temps.
So, lets try to make statistic look.
What is your overclocking frequency, what voltage keeps you system stable and what temperatures do you get?

I would aim for 3.8 to 3.9 with around 1.35-1.4v max for a 24/7 machine. I've overclocked two of these CPUs and so far both are over AMDs max voltage of 1.45v According to AMD 1.35v is the preferred 24/7 voltage, These CPUs are fairly new so it's "safety" limits are still kind of unknown

My suggestion (based on multiple video- and 'paper'- reviews) it that 3.8Ghz is the sweet spot for Ryzen 1700, but it's not my own experience, so I am looking for other people opinions.

A lot of it will come down to the CPU and silicon lottery. There are some good ones but most average users will get 3.8-3.9 within the AMD recommended 1.35v. There are many factors as well such as Memory speed. I have found the higher/tighter the memory the more voltage you're going to need to keep it stable. Here's a shot of 3.8 with 3200 CL14 Set voltage is 1.35v in BIOS load voltage is closer to 1.3v in HWinfo

I have 2 conclusions about Ryzen launching and overclocking capabilities:
1. I think AMD has been send selected Ryzen units for reviewers to make higher expectations for potential buyers. In head to head tests Ryzen 1700 from AMD, and from retail stores shows different overclocking capabilities. AMD sample is cooler, works with higher frequencies and need less voltage.
2. Many tests showed that 1700X is more like 1800X in therms of voltage to frequencies ratio. 1700 can overclock and work almost on 1800X frequencies, but the voltage in 1700 case is significant higher and it produces, naturally, much more heat.

So, for now I think 1700X gives margin of performance, but the price difference in real buying situation is very small, if not negotiable.

Not sure about the "AMD samples" being selected. I have gotten two such "samples" and they both overclock relatively the same. One is slightly better than the other. The 1700x I have will make 4.0 but still needs higher voltage of 1.42 1700 needs 1.48v. AMD has put them in the respective series for a reason. You could get lucky and find a 1700 that will clock higher with less voltage but maybe not, silicon lottery. All these CPUs came from AMD for review. For the slight difference I see the 1700 is a better choice for the money I think.

Great! Maybe you can share some detailed info:
1. You have 1700 only, or 1700X and 1800X also?
2. Where were they produced (China or Malaysia)?
3. Which CPU has which maximum fully stable voltage to frequencies pair?
4. Can any one reach higher than 4.1Ghz ?
5. What cooling solution has been used?
6. What RAM, in what combination has been tested?
7. Do you have samples from regular retail stores (like Amazon, NewEgg etc.)? If so, do you have seen any differences in overclocking capabilities in compare to AMD reviewers kit sample?

5. Air for review NH-d15 ambient loop didn't make much more headroom
6. g.skill 3600 CL 17 all CPUs were able to run 3200 CL14 without issue. New BIOS and 1700x DDR4 3650 at CL14 still testing
7. All samples from OEM

We had a bit of a site issue the other day that caused that.

1.48v for 4.1ghz on the 1800X I was using and a CH6H, my temps were in the low 50-60C range on water under load.

im about same running 24/7 3.8ghz 1.36v have had it to 4.0ghz at 1.45 but wouldnt keep it there see if this link works http://valid.x86.fr/6rdk9e .......msi pro gaming carbon x370 .... r7 1700.... evga 850 platinum .... Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz C15 @ 2661hz 1.35v .... asus strix rx480 at 1385hz stable ..... the cpu on custom loop with 360mm rad .... gpu on air --------------- i love the encoding performance as i do a fair amount of video production using adobe premier ... gaming just cause 3 --- gta V --- COD blops3 1080 @ 75hz on highest setting all so needless to say the money i spent im HAPPY so i would recommend
