Almost every time I restart or shutdown, when I boot back up, it gives me the Scan Disk thingy. I must press any button within 10 seconds or it starts a scan disk on my entire 40GB drive.
Its not too bad when I am sitting at the computer during boot because I just hit a button and it contiues the boot. But its when I go to take a dump or something while it boots, that it starts the time consuming scandisk.

What can I do to make it stop?

Hmmm you are selecting shot down from the start menu right.

If so I would look at my event log and see if it shows a problem.

I would also go into msconfig and turn off any programs that start up with windows.Thay may be hanging or causing errors at shut down. None of this may help but it wont hurt to try it.

Good Idea, I will try that.
About things hanging, wouldnt XP tell me that something isnt closing, I mean, it does with all other programs...
