Anybody know of some good ones that are out there. It needs to go on like 4 computers and my mom is not crazy about dropping $100 for norton, or macafee. we all have yahoo acounts that scan for viuses in attachments so it does not need to be much.

You can get norton 2002 for $8. Check out eastoutlet.com and most other sites have it for around $10 or $12.

I've never used it, but try http://www.grisoft.com/html/us_index.htm ...

it says it's free!
Yeah, I'm using this since I'm not too whoopie about dropping major change for some AV software. I never get any so I can't tell you how good this software is at detection (though they have won many awards), but from a visual standpoint, it seems like a descent piece of software. The only way it's 'crippled' is that it won't let you do an 'advanced' search, which is just a custom search. Don't worry though, the complete scan is pretty much all you'll ever need. It also has shell integration so you can check individual files or folders for viruses. Quite nice!

piracy related stuff I censored to keep from being in trouble

Dude, better check the forum rules again. Talking about software piracy in the forums is a big time no-no here. Stuff like this puts Skip and the forums in legal hot water that can get the whole place shut down. I'd suggest removing or editing your post in accordance with the rules.

Forum guide can be found here

Warez, Crackz, and Copyrighted material

This is to clarify the position of this site regarding Warez information and warez sites, Crackz and information about crackz, and the posting and downloading of copyrighted material.

Overclockers prohibits the promotion of, and reference to, any program or website which contains or distributes Warez, Crackz, and pirated copyrighted material, including but not limited to music and video.

Discussion of Warez, crackz, and pirated copyrighted material is not permitted in this forum. Any offer to provide or request to receive warez, crackz, and bootleg material will be deleted without notice and the offender will be warned. A repeat offense is grounds for permanent dismissal, without recourse, from these forums.

This is a serious issue for this Forum. Allowing discussion of and, by extension condoning the distribution of, said information jeopardizes the very existence of this Forum. As such, it will not be tolerated. For the long-term future of this site, please abide by this rule.

Thanks,

Overclockers.com Forum Management Team

I use AVG. It is very good and best of all it is free and has frequent updates. I get an email when there is an update and when a new virus comes out they usually update soon after. Try it and see if you like it.
