tost is good for raiseing tempatures and such

but for ditecting instablity i would go with prime

it deals with numbers like this ( sorry for you 56kers) that number is prime by the way

then it does the caculation again after changeing a varable and if the numbers dont match up ( with the effects of the changed varable taken into acount) it spits out the error
 
also if you really want to raise temps just put it on priority 10
 
Prime 95 is an excellent stability tester, but you'll also want to use something like toast or CPUBurn to make sure that your max temp isn't going to be too high to cause problems.

My PC would run Prime 95 forever, but then it locked up about 1 hour into some intensive gaming. I duplicated the lockup with CPUBurn and went and got myself a more powerful CPU fan for my SK6. All is well now!
 
this is true

prime really doesnt get stuff flying between video and cpu

mostly just ram and cpu
