upgraded to xp now internet shareing not working need help asap( please)

okay i was testing how xp would work on the comptuer that uses the shared connection


the shareing comptuer hasnt change at all

i tested the ping and the connection is good

and its showing the network as good

but internet exploer keeps giving me time outs


anyideas

uh.... i would check these:

1) make sure you don't have the firewall enabled in XP

2) make sure tools -> internet options -> connections is configured properly

3) run "ipconfig /all" (without the quotes) from command prompt to view NIC status

Are you using a broadband connection? I use ICS and when I first set it up IE would only go to a small number of sites. After I applied these changes I could go where ever I wanted.

no its just a 56k im shareing

okay im completely stumped

workgroup on both is set to=WORKGOUP

one is called robert one is called family


i can ping the two

but they dont show up on network neighboorhood

but here is what i REALLLLLLY dont understand

i did the ipconfig

default gateway is 192.168.0.1 and it obtaned its ip adress fromt his computer too

man this is starting to **** me off

I can help you but i need more information.

1) Tell me how many network cards each computer has, along with which one has the dial up modem.
2) The name of the computer that is sharing the connection (robert one/family).
3) How many entries you have in network neighborhood properties.
4) How they are connected together. Direct computer to computer, or through a hub?
5) What ISP...do they assign static ip or dynamic ip?

If you can tell me this, it should be easy to help you out. This is what i do all day long

i got the connection working

turned off shareing then turned it back on


but the network still doesnt show both on my network

both are on workgroup :WORKGORUP
