3.2C or E worth getting???

I currently have a 3.0E@3.8 right now. I wanna break 4.0 with my WC setup and I dont think my chip can do it. Would I have a better chance with either of the 3.2s or take my chances with a 3.0c? If you guys have any results or opinions please help me out. Thanks
Kevin

Right now, there's nothing that is a sure 4 gig overclock with watercooling. You might need to try several CPUs before hitting the jackpot. Do you feel lucky? My 3.0E D0 stepping will hit 4 gig and I can make a CPU-Z screenshot and mess around in Windows, but if I try benchmarking anything, it crashes. I think the Prescott E0 steppings due out this fall will be the ones to finally hit a stable 4 gig on a routine basis.

I know I am spoiled but I am gonna be building a couple machines for work and was gonna do the cpu switcharoo and was curious if the 3.2 would have a better chance. Thanks for the quick response.

My 3.2E D0 is stable at 4.0, but I have to feed it 1.5125v (BIOS) to get it stable. Currently getting 51c load with just a single Evercool running flat-out on an unshrouded BIX (I know, I know: BIX < HC and shrouds are essential, but my money's more essential for the time being ). So if your cooling and mobo mosfets are up to the task, I'd say there's a better than even chance you can hit 4.0 with a new D0

Hey kc428, a little off-topic, but how far could you oc your cpu with air-cooling if you get 3.8GHz with watercooling? Have you tried?

KC,

I got a similar chip to what Styyn has. I think we both got them from newegg, both retails. I have mine running at 4ghz prime stable. Vcore is currently set at 1.4875v in bios. I am using a Mach1 though. I have been able to get mine to boot into windows at 4.4ghz with vcore set to 1.5875v in bios, but was not stable. I am going to see if I can get mine stable at a lower vcore at 4ghz when I get home next weekend. Might also see how far I can get it stable at also. I did not have alot of time to shake it down last weekend.

I am running the vcore at 1.50 which is a bit high but i have some copper ramsinks on the mosfets which seemed to help a bit. Unfortunately I havn't tried running it on air but at the current temps under load(49*C) I don't believe the results would be pretty, which also is so damn appealing about the C chips. Thanks for the input guys.
