Actually, I got it at local retailer who has a very lenient return policy who's named after the process of cooking with hot oil.

I wish I knew someone on the inside.

For all we know he could have meant engineering samples and anyway, it's no secret C1's are being produced anyway, naturally however Intel wants the B1's to sell off first hence the only C1's in large numbers out there now are the 960/965EE's.

A D0 stepping will be out later on too.

At this point i think i would spend my money on Conroe, if i would have seen a C1 stepping 3 months ago i would have bought one but with Conroe coming right around the corner i wouldn't waste my money on another Presler. I wasn't too impressed with Presler, but thats probably because i got a mediocre 930. My 661 Cedar Mill made my 930 look like a PIII but it only lasted 4 months!

If you're building a new system sure, but for those of us with non-conroe compatible P5WD2 boards a C1 is very appealing.

well, i just scored a C1 stepping 930 presler...

i was migrating a hard drive, tv card, etc... over to another Dell computer (an XPS 400 with a P-D 930) for a customer and i ran cpu-z in front of the customer and BAM! a C1 stepping 930!

so, i asked the customer if i could switch my 930 b1 stepping with his and he said sure!

right now i am priming at 4.5ghz (15x300) and i am just dropping and dropping the voltage with no problems---i am already at 1.45v---i needed 1.48v to run 4.4ghz with my b1 stepping 930...

who knows how fast this 930 C1 can go!

at 4.5ghz, it's already on par with a ~2.8-3ghz conroe with windows movie maker video encoding!

Nice One. I want a C1 930 too for my other P5wd2 P that sitting in its box still. 15x multi is spot on for getting that FSB up.

SL8WR or SL95X?

Now I'm confused...which is the correct 930 C1 spec number?

Have a look at this, should clear things up.
See the C1 spec number under post conversion production units.

SL95X is a C1 stepper...the SL8WR is a B1 stepper, that according to intel, also has EIST (speedstep) (unlike the other SL94R B1 stepper that doesn't have EIST)...

a user here reported that the EIST works with his SL8WR on the Asus 955 board, but i couldn't get EIST to work with my SL8WR on my P5WD2-E board that has the 975 chipset

Still waiting on the 965 mobos before I go to conroe...just need something in the mean time to replace my dying amd 3000+ single core. Besides...I may as well wait for an C1 conroe LOL

I figure there will be a good combo deal at Fry's on Black Friday later this year.

i just picked up a few of those ebay c1's ... plan to replace a few folding 830's with hopefully lower vc, better temps (much lower TDP spec) and prolly better production. Keepin my fingers crossed.
Still waiting on my conroe mobo, and of course conroe. I expect the folding farm to be almost all DC's by the end of the year.

Where do you guys live?

Here in France we have the rue-montgallet/rue charenton. Two whole streets with computer stores from end to end. I'm about to jump on my bike now and see how many C1s I can find. If anybody needs them (and is within cheap shipping range of Paris.) I would be more than happy to pick them up for the shipping fees and a Mojito
