I'm going to set tight till the Nehalem comes out, of course that'll be a major upgrade.

Good luck with your new board.

Yes, for example DFI does. There may well be others, I've not follow the X48 that closely.

Aye I'm looking forward to that myself , but it's an awaful long time to wait:lol: , seem to have been waiting long enough for X48

see X48 Which One or None - Poll for ddr2 X48 boards available. Clunk got his hands on a DFI LT X48-T2R Lanparty Living Review. (ddr2)

Heard about the BlackOps
a while back , with little news since, am unsure at this stage wethere it's gone the samer way as the rampage extreme ??

luck

Yep the black ops is proving to be very hard to get info on...I have my feelers out and the word I'm getting is retail won't be available until june, but I may have an in on a test board from a distributor here in Seoul....I'll find out soon (monday hopefully)...I've been bugging the guy for two weeks but he keeps saying delay delay delay.....we'll see my fingers are crossed.

I just got my rampage formula last night and spent a great deal this morning building my rig. So far this board has been a complete disappointment after waiting for so long. Intel hasn't even released an updated X48 INF. It's the same one from june 2007. On top of that, none of the Asus software works with the board. So far I am going on a RAMPAGE with this board!! I guess all those rumors about X48 being specially binned X38 were right

June for the blackops is just plain stupid. I've also seen pics over on the foxcon forum With the Mars Nb Cooler so there seems a wide variation now in what to expect as well as when  (the Foxconn forum is very bad to connect to, so apologies if link doesn't work)

@DNA_Dan - Sorry to hear rgat m8, the asus software isn't new or restricted to the rampage, was exactly the same with my P5E2 , wouldn't get too upset about the inf drivers either as there aren't any hardware changes x38--> X48 so why should drivers change?? Most important thing - How does it clock

luck

Okay I got it under control now. Apparently I cracked one of the legs while putting on the CPU fan and it wasn't making 100% contact with the CPU. Had to put a new one on there. I am loading up all the software as I type this, so no news yet on the OC front as of yet. The only strange thing I have encountered with this board and windows XP is in the system devices. When I look at the properties for some of them in the device manager, they are properly identified (no red X) but under properties some of them read:

"No drivers are installed for this device.

If you are having problems with this device, click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter."

Are these just resources that I am not using with a peripheral? I see this under some pretty important components like "Direct Memory Access Controller". Strange. Otherwise the board seems okay now with the fan reseating.

I've had the DFI X48 since it came out,( not long ago), and have had good success with it, clocks about the same as my DFI P35 did, but the X48 is able to run with tighter timings so far.
Reason I upgraded was because this board has 8 Phase PWM versus 4 on the P35 I had. Gonna run a Quad on here when the prices come down on them.
