Want to make program for my phone

I've got a Nokia 5800 that's running symbian s60 5th edition. I'd like to make a basic program to track gas mileage and such, but I'm not sure where to start. Google hasn't been helpful today so I figured i'd ask here.
I"m trying to find out what language it uses, a compiler, and what libraries are needed/necessary for it. I also need the command to get the current date/time from the phone.
This is honestly going to be my first real program and not random stuff, but I catch on quick so i'm not expecting it to be impossible.
If possible i'm working from linux, but i have acces to XP if i really need to use it.

Look for "J2ME", Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition

I know next to nothing about it, but take a look here:
