I can't believe the level of disappointment I feel towards this game. I thought it was going to be my personal game of the year (I love Quake, Doom, and Wolf games with much <3). Instead the single player is a standard console shooter on rails, and the multiplayer is stillborn upon release. When I tried it out again last night there was a total of 47 people playing worldwide. I guess the MP devs getting fired on release day should've been a good sign. Glad I got to borrow a copy to try it out first (well, I might own it, person I borrowed from hated it too).

I'm really irked that Raven went the way of other devs and made a crap console shooter and ported it to PC. My only prayer is that id doesn't do the same with Rage and Doom 4.

I feel that Wolf was pawned off on other game companies and wasn't really controlled. Just more of a quick go at it. Its ok but not nearly as good as it could have been.

Doom4 and Rage are going to be horded by ID like treasure and im sure they will both be great. But it still saddens me how they could let a title as wolfenstein end like that.

Yea, agreed. Now let's wait for Diablo III. If it'll be ruined then i'll kill blizzard. Anyways, it should be good i think. But no release date yet.

OK I am probably one of the OLDEST 'Old School' players of this series... I've been playing this series since it was originally called "Castle Wolfenstein" on the Apple IIc and Atari 400 computer systems...LOL!

Click the image to open in full size.

It originally started out as a Stealth game. Also one of the first games I remember that had speach. I used to confuse Castle Wolfenstein with Beyond Castle Wolfenstein because I was pretty young at the time and found the game pretty hard.

It wasn't until later on that they started adding all that stupid Nazi Zombie stuff. The good thing was, they returned to thier roots and kept it normal with one of the best games I have ever played to this day... ENEMY TERRITORY!

Seriously, it had some of the best game play of any FPS. I love the rank system in which your skills imporve and how people had to work together to achieve a goal.

That's the oldschool spirit! Keep it up! Hehe, well, that's what i said. But my first Wolfenstein was Wolf3D. But that's the same thing, eh?

Wow was this game ridiculously buggy, after going through multiple efforts to keep the game from crashing. The only thing that I found to work was to not have steam.exe running concurrently.

People who complain about "nothing new" always bother me. There's such a thing as not fixing what isn't broken! If it's fun, why change it? Games that change their entire play style between different iterations (ala, halo) bother me like crazy. It bugs me due to inconsistencies in the player character limitation. Why couldn't master chief dual wield in Halo 1? What prevented such a badass tank of a man from doing this? Why add it in? It raises too many questions to me.

Personally I'm a fan of simple shooters like this, I loved Quake 4, and Doom 3, and I'm sure I'll love this game, but unfortunately I have so many games to play that I can't justify buying it right now. Working on Riddick still.

Picked this up (for X360) finally because it was $30. And I am loving it.

I wish:
A) split screen so I could duel locally
B) I WANT PISTOLS. I miss the Colt 45 and Luger from RtCW

It is nice to be back as BJ... reminds me of RtCW (Beach ftw) and WET.

this game fell off the radar quite fast, but for the 10 or so hours I played it , it was fun.

Hahahahaha!

Enemy Territory is THE worst game I've ever played. (Hell maybe I'm thinking of Quake Enemy Territory and that other one... but I hated them all. And the multi in Crysis was based on that and I sure as hell hated that too.)

I too have been playing since Castle Wolfenstein (which makes us a couple of OLD ********) and while this game is ultimately flawed (like you should expect ANY "game revival" to be) I thought there were a lot of individual elements to like.

I liked, for example, the way the guns felt.

Many is the time in shooters these days where it does't feel so much like you're firing a gun as it does you're clicking a mouse. So I think they nailed that. I thought the single player in every Wolfenstein game, including this one, was always "entertaining" if not "good." (Return to Castle Wolfenstein was an excellent example of that. The weird Zombie Nazi thing was stupid... but that sniper rifle and all the other weapons were fun.)

Ultimately these games need to stop looking backwards, stop relying on ridiculous and stupid gimmicks (Crysis=Good Gimmick, Prey=BAD GIMMICK), idiotic plot lines, and improbably scenarios. If they just keep it simple... but make that siplicity really, REALLY good, then they can do something that has never been done before and wind up having a great game in the process, rather than doing something that shouldn't have been greenlighted and wind up with a below average game in the process.
