Need help choosing a blu-ray player

If this is in the wrong section, please move it... i wasn't real sure where to put it :/

Anyway, we currently have the Sony BDP-360 and when we got it home, we realized it plays Blu-Ray.... and nothing else. The video quality is great, but it doesn't do anything else, and we really don't get movies that much. We watch tons of DVDs cause we have at on of them, but only 3 or 4 blu-ray movies (we rent most of our movies).

Right now, i'm looking at trading the Sony in for the Panasonic DMP-BD60K since it appears to have more web functionality... can anyone tell me about the video quality of the Panasonic?

Thanks for any input

Those specs up there? They're silent. Silence is good. Very good.

it plays DVDs. If for some reason yours doesn't, exchange it for a new one. I wouldn't recommend anything else in that price range

I own the BDP-S350, last years model, and it upconverts DVDs beautifully. My dad just got a BDP360 a few days ago and it seems to be just as good

Lol, let me rephrase that... it plays discs and nothing else. We can't stream anything off our network, off the internet, or even off a flash drive :/

well, okay then

I think LG and Panasonic are pretty good. I personally don't miss netflix or a similar capability on mine. I like to watch things only on Blu-ray, or the old DVD's I have. I bought it to be high def, if it isn't HD it doesn't belong on my TV.

Lol, same here, but we don't get movies all that often.
The panasonic looks really good with Blu-ray, and DVD upscaling, so i'm happy with it. And then for the times when we don't feel like going to blockbuster, we can just go rent a movie online

I like the XMB interface on the Sony a lot more though... that's something that i do like about all their newer products. It really is simple and clean... i like simple and clean

A PS3 will do what you seek. It's a quite good BLU-RAY player. Certainly AS good as what you have.

It also plays PS3 games.

299. Really not bad. It's what I'd do. A remote will cost about $30. It does everything you want- and you can:

Browse the internet

Hook up a keyboard and mouse and use LINUX (only on the FAT/non slim versions can you use LINUX, but all versions take a USB keybo/mouse)

Watch video from your PC

BLURAY/DVD (the upconversion is impressive)

Play PS3 games and some PS2 games

Download movies from the Playstation Network
