Win2k want to move boot drive to raid ctrlr

Hi all, I want to move my boot drive (that I installed win2k on) from the ATA33 hdd controler to the onboard highpoint HPT370 raid controler, but I can't remember what I need to do...I'm thinking that all I need to do is move the cable to the other controler and use the win2k cd to get into a command prompt and type "FIXBOOT"? or is it fdisk /mbr?

The highpoint controler is functioning properly according to device manager and the drivers have been installed.

Parts list of old thrasher box:
Abit BE6-2 ver2
PIII 600E @900 1.9v-max (could get more with better cooling and 1.95-2.00 volts and my other ram)
Nvidia Gforce 4 MX4000
no name pc66 mem @ 140mhz 3-3-3 (not bad for PC66)
no name cdrom
WD Caviar 80g (not sure 'bout how much cache)

Am I on the right track? or is moving the boot disk a bit more involved?
Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions,
Doc

You need to install the RAID card and raid controller while you currently have the HDD as a standard IDE drive.

Then you can try and boot off of the RAID controller.

Yup, ain't gonna happen that way...it will just say NTLDR is missing...the raid controller is already installed and functioning, and the drivers are on the boot (only) hdd.
I just can't remember how I did it b4...I can't remember if I had to boot from the cd and press F6 and loading the raid drivers and restarting, or if the command "fixboot", or the command "fdisk /mbr" was what was used. Too many happy days between then and now

What about a Win2K repair??? You will load the drivers via F6 during the initial install process.

I think a repair is your best bet or a clean install

Yea, F6 I think is the way to go...just haven't had to do it since 2001.
Now, I need to temporarily install a floppy drive and put the HPT370 drivers on a floppy.
That is the only thing I hate about win2k....USB was in full swing, yet they didn't allow for any drivers to be installed by thumb drive or other USB storage unit...only floppy.
Thanks again everybody,
Doc
